New Delhi
Milk and dairy product sector company Amul (AMUL) has increased milk prices by two rupees per liter since 1 May 2025. Increased prices will be implemented across the country. The company said that there was no increase in milk prices since June 2024.
Last year, Amul gave free 50 mL and 100 mL additional milk free on a pack of 1 liter and 2 liter for about five months to provide relief to customers. Apart from this, in January 2025, Amul reduced the price of his 1 liter pack by Rs 1, which gave relief to the consumers.
The company gave reasons for the increase
The company said that the main reason for the price hike is an increase in the input cost of more than 36 lakh milk producers. All the members of Amul have also started giving better milk prices to farmers in the last one year. Amul said that about 80 percent of the amount collected from consumers is returned directly to milk producers. The company said that the remaining part of the milk sales price has been increased to the milk producers and they will be encouraged to increase milk production.
