Cheating for a Sub-Inspector Job: A 3-Year Sentence

The accused was posted as a constable in the 2nd Battalion Board Gwalior.

Chief Judicial Magistrate of the Bhopal, Agnindhra Kumar Dwivedi convicted the accused constable Rajkumar Verma who cheated in the name of getting selected in the Police Sub-Inspector Recruitment Examination and sentenced him to 3 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000.

Assistant District Public Prosecutor Neetu Jain, who is pleading on behalf of the government, said that on 27 March 2014, the complainant submitted a written application in the Police Station Special Task Force (STF) that I had given the Police Sub-Inspector examination in September 2011. My cousin Vijay Yadav had arranged my meeting with Ramkumar Verma who was a constable in the 2nd Battalion Board Gwalior. The accused said that if anyone wants to be a sub inspector in police recruitment, then tell me I will get you recruited, then I said my marks in Vyapam exam are useful, will I get selected or not, then the accused said I will get you selected. For which he demanded five lakh rupees, I said I will give the money after the work is done, then he said that first 2 lakh rupees will have to be given and the rest after the work is done, I agreed to the accused and gave 1 lakh 95 thousand rupees in installments at different places. After a few days the result came in which I was not selected, on talking to the accused he said that I will get you selected through VIP quota and every time he keeps on talking on the phone and keeps on procrastinating, on the crime of the above incident, crime number 10/2014 of police station STF under section 420 IPC was registered and investigation was taken up.
