The first match of the five-match Test series between India and Australia is being played in Perth. A total of 17 wickets fell on the first day of the match, which is a record. However, on the second day, the Indian team made a brilliant comeback and ended Australia’s first innings and made a strong start in the second innings. The century partnership for the first wicket between Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul has been completed. With this the couple has registered their names in the record book.
There has been a partnership of more than 100 runs between Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul in the second innings of the first test. After 20 years, the pair of Rahul-Yashshvi has been successful in making an opening century partnership on Australian soil. Earlier, there was a partnership of 123 runs between Virender Sehwag and Aakash Chopra in Sydney.
For the sixth time in Australia, there has been a partnership of more than 100 runs between the Indian openers. Yashasvi Jaiswal, playing his second match on foreign soil, could not do wonders in the first innings but he scored more than 70 runs in the second innings. Opener KL Rahul was looking in good form in the first innings too but was out in a controversial manner. Rahul scored 26 runs in 74 balls in the first innings, while he also scored a half-century in the second innings.
Earlier, Bumrah achieved the feat of taking five wickets in an innings for the 11th time while Test debutant Harshit Rana bowled a brilliant first spell with the help of which India bowled out Australia for 104 runs in the first innings. For Australia, the last pair Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood made India wait a long time for the last wicket. Australia’s nine wickets fell at 79 runs, after which Starc (26 runs in 113 balls) and Hazlewood (7 runs not out in 31 balls) made a partnership of 25 runs lasting 18 overs. Because of this the Indian team could take a lead of only 46 runs.
