In Madhya Pradesh, prisoners are treated like son-in-law, now milk, curd and salad will also be available in jails.

Now prisoners in the jails of Madhya Pradesh will be able to get milk, curd, buttermilk and salad. Its provision is being made in the ‘Madhya Pradesh Correctional Services and Prison Act’, which is going to be effective from January 1, 2025.

Prisoners will get better food

The Finance Department is examining this proposal. After getting permission from the government, with the Act coming into effect, the food arrangements will become better. Like before, eggs will also be given to TB patients in jail. Along with this, the arrangement of giving sweets during national festivals and weekends will also continue.

Comprehensive changes in old law

How prisoners were treated during the British era is not hidden from anyone. The law of his time (year 1894) is also still in force. Now the central and state governments are together trying to increase correctional services in jails. In this context, the old law is being changed. About a thousand types of rules have been included in the new Act in the state.

45 thousand prisoners in the state

It is noteworthy that there are about 45 thousand prisoners in the jails of the state. Dangerous prisoners are being kept in separate egg cells, but now this will also be mentioned in the rules. Along with this, many old provisions have been removed, which have now become irrelevant.

Inmates will be assigned to cook food in the jail as per their interest. No prisoner will be able to object to this. Officials say that Madhya Pradesh can probably become the first state where milk, curd and buttermilk will be given to the prisoners in jails.

Many provisions are being made in the rules to improve the food arrangements of prisoners. The Finance Department is studying how much it will cost. The arrangement will come into effect upon getting consent.
