The Bharatiya Janata Party has alleged that Telangana police have lathi -charged people celebrating India’s victory in the Champions Trophy. The BJP has also shared a video, in which the police are seen raining sticks on the people. The BJP has questioned the Congress government regarding this incident. India has won the Champions Trophy by defeating New Zealand in a thrilling final on Sunday.
BJP’s IT cell chief Amit Malviya has shared a video of police action. He wrote, ‘Hyderabad Police used lathicharge in Dilkhushanagar to stop people from celebrating India’s victory in the Champions Trophy. A similar incident has also been seen in Karimnagar. Is this a new maneuver of Congress ruled states? ‘ He further asked, ‘Who are they trying to make them happy? Where will Indians go to celebrate the caste of their own country? At present, there has been no response from the Congress or Telangana Police regarding this incident.

India won the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 by defeating New Zealand by four wickets in the final here on Sunday with a half -century of captain Rohit Sharma (76 runs). This is India’s second consecutive ICC title. Chasing a target of 252 runs in the final, India won by scoring 254 for six wickets for 49 overs. Shreyas Iyer scored 48 runs and Shubman Gill scored 31 runs. Akshar Patel contributed 29 runs. KL Rahul scored an unbeaten 34 and Ravindra Jadeja scored nine not out to win the team. After winning the toss, New Zealand came out to bat, thanks to the half -centuries of Deril Mitchell (63 runs) and Michael Bracewell (53 runs), scored 251 runs for seven wickets.
