McSweeney in Australian team for Sri Lanka tour, Smith will be captain

Nathan McSweeney has been included in Australia’s Test team for the Sri Lanka tour, despite being dropped from the team three weeks ago. Australian selectors on Thursday announced the team for the two-Test tour, in which many new faces have been included. Australia defeated India 3.1 in the Border Gavaskar Trophy to reach the World Test Championship final.

Regular captain Pat Cummins is on a break due to the birth of his second child, so Steve Smith will take charge of Australia. McSweeney scored 72 runs at an average of 14.4 in the first three Tests against India, after which he was replaced by Sam Constas in the squad for the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne. The first Test against Sri Lanka will be played from January 29 and the second from February 6. An ODI match will be held in Galle on 13 February.
