Jay Shah replaces Greg Barclay as ICC President, who had held the post since November 2020. In his first speech as president, Jay Shah talked about taking cricket far ahead and also mentioned the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
Former Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Jay Shah took over as the Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) on 1 December. He replaces Greg Barclay, whose term ended on November 30.
Jay Shah has become the ICC President at a time when there is a dispute between India and Pakistan regarding the Champions Trophy. BCCI has made it clear that the Indian team will not go to Pakistan to play the Champions Trophy.
When will the decision be taken on Champions Trophy?
- Meanwhile, every cricket fan is waiting for the situation regarding the Champions Trophy to be clarified and the schedule to be released. It is expected that ICC can give official information at any time.
- According to the information so far, it is considered certain that the Champions Trophy will be held in a hybrid model. ICC had put this option before Pakistan, which has been accepted by PCB.
- However, PCB has also put some conditions along with this proposal of ICC, but the situation is not clear yet whether they will be accepted or not. PCB will suffer huge loss if Champions Trophy does not happen.
Various types of discussions in Pakistan
With Jay Shah becoming the ICC President, various types of discussions are taking place in Pakistan. Some people believe that with Jai Shah becoming the president, Pakistan cricket will suffer because now ICC will not pay attention to Pakistan.
