Even after Rohit’s return, Rahul should start the innings: Pujara

Batsman Cheteshwar Pujara has said that even after the return of captain Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul should open the innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal in the second cricket Test match against Australia in Adelaide. Due to Rohit’s absence in the first Test, Rahul started the innings with Yashasvi. The performance of this pair was good. Pujara, who has batted brilliantly in the last two tours of Australia, believes that there should be no change in the opening pair after the 295-run win in the first match of the series.
He said that Yashasvi scored a brilliant century in the first innings. Rahul also batted well and scored 26 and 77 runs in two innings in Perth. Pujara said, I think if we can continue with this batting order then Rohit can come at number three and Shubman can come at number five. If Rohit wants to start, Rahul should bat at number 3. Nothing after that. I think he should bat in the top order, because it is very good for his game. I hope this will not change.
Pujara said, ideally the 5th position is good for Shubman, it gives him a chance to come in at a time, even if we lose two wickets early, he is a player who can deal with the new ball. But if he comes after 25 or 30 overs, he can play his shots. He can play his natural game. He said, if we lose the first three wickets quickly, Shubman comes and saves Rishabh Pant for the old ball. Pant does not have to face the new ball. Pujara said, I would not want him to come to bat when the ball is hard and new.
