Strong performance by PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen, made it to the semi-finals of Syed Modi India International.

India’s star badminton players PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen Syed Modi have reached the semi-finals of the women’s and men’s singles category of the International Super 300 Badminton Tournament. Top seeded two-time champion Sindhu defeated China’s Dai Wang 21-15, 21-17 in the women’s singles quarter-finals that lasted 48 minutes. Meanwhile, 2021 World Championship bronze medalist Lakshya defeated Meraba Luwang Mesnam 21-8, 21-19 in the men’s singles quarter-finals.

Sindhu said after the victory, “Today’s match was important. She may be a lower ranked player but it doesn’t matter. I have corrected my mistakes and will not repeat them. I played aggressively from the beginning.”

Sindhu is ranked 18th and Wang 118th in the world rankings. Now he will face India’s Unnati Hooda while Lakshya will play Japan’s Shogo Ogawa. Lakshya said, “It was a good match.” I am happy with the performance. The second game was difficult but it is good that I could win.”

Odisha Open 2022 winner Hooda defeated Ishika Jaiswal of America 21-16, 21-9. In women’s doubles, second seeds Trisa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand defeated sixth seeds Go Pei Ki and Tio Mei Shing 21-8, 21-15. In mixed doubles, fifth seeds Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto defeated Malaysia’s Lu Bing Kun and Ho Lo Ee 21-16, 21-13.

Eighth seed Ayush Shetty crashed out after losing 7-21, 14-21 to Ogawa in men’s singles. In women’s singles, Tasneem Mir and Shriyanshi V also lost and were eliminated.
