Educational institutions will ensure biometric attendance of students, Minister of State Smt. Gaur conducted departmental review

To ensure more than 75 percent attendance of backward class students in the institutions of study, all educational institutions have been asked to register biometric attendance based on the unique ID “Aadhaar”. Scholarships are provided to backward class students studying in educational institutions. In this sequence, these instructions have been given by the Backward Classes Department. This information was given by the department in the review meeting held in the ministry on Friday under the chairmanship of Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Backward Classes, Minority Welfare, Demukt, Nomads and Semi-Nomads, Smt. Krishna Gaur.

Minister of State Smt. Gaur took information from the department regarding the action being taken in relation to starting mess arrangements in departmental hostels, setting up solar energy plants and building boundary walls. It was told in the meeting that a proposal has been sent to the government for running mess in girls hostels of backward class. Taking serious note of the complaints received in the Foreign Study Scholarship Scheme, Minister of State Mrs. Gaur gave instructions to resolve the complaints. He said that the scheme is being implemented in a transparent manner. Whoever has made any complaint in this, then give a satisfactory reply to his complaint.

Minister of State Mrs. Gaur informed about the proposal to be sent to the government to increase the number of students in the Delhi Student Home Scheme from 50 to 150 and increase the amount of assistance. Regarding the plan to provide employment abroad, it was told in the meeting that till now 7 students from backward classes have been given placement in Japan. In the meeting, it was asked to resolve all the pending cases of scholarships given to backward class students and ensure payment of scholarships. It was informed in the meeting that all the pending cases regarding payment of scholarships are being resolved.

It was told in the meeting that the work of surveying the families of liberated, nomadic and semi-nomadic communities will be started soon. This work of data collection will first be done in 12 districts of the state, after which it will be done in the remaining districts. Organization of Lokrang Utsav for liberated, nomadic and semi-nomadic communities is also being considered. Departmental schemes and programs were reviewed in detail in the meeting. Additional Chief Secretary Backward Classes and Minority Welfare Shri Ajit Kesari, Commissioner Shri Saurabh Suman, Director Vimukt, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Shri Neeraj Vashishtha and other officers were present.
