Narendra Modi government approved 3 railway projects. The estimated cost of these projects is Rs 7927 crore. These projects have been approved for Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. These 3 projects will come under the Ministry of Railways and are expected to add 639 kilometers to the existing railway network.
The 3 projects that have been given the green signal are – Jalgaon-Manmad 4th Line, Busaval-Khandwa 3rd and 4th Line, Prayagraj-Manikpur 3rd Line. The objective of this project is to improve connectivity and ease of travel as well as reduce logistics costs.

The statement issued by the Central Government said, “Under these proposed projects, connectivity will be increased by running additional trains on the Mumbai-Prayagraj-Varanasi route. This will facilitate the devotees visiting Jyotirlinga in Nashik, Omkareshwar in Khandwa and Kashi Vishwanath in Varanasi. Apart from this, the journey of pilgrims going to Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, Gaya and Shirdi will also be smooth.” The government believes that these projects will also promote tourism at tourist attractions like Khajuraho, Ajanta Ellora Caves, Devagiri Fort, Asirgarh Fort, Rewa Fort, Yawal Wildlife Sanctuary, Kyoti and Purva Falls.

Agricultural products, fertilizers, coal, steel, cement and containers will be sent from one place to another on these routes. The government has said that railways is an environment-friendly means of travel and transport, which will not only reduce logistics costs but will also help in achieving environmental goals.

Meanwhile, the government has announced a national mission to promote natural farming among one crore farmers on 7.5 lakh hectares of land with an outlay of ₹2,481 crore over the next two years.

Jalgaon-Manmad 4th Line (160 km)
Bhusaval-Khandwa 3rd and 4th Line (131 km)
Prayagraj (Iradatganj)-Manikpur 3rd Line (84 km)
The proposed multi-track projects will ease operations and reduce congestion, thereby developing essential infrastructure on the busiest sections between Mumbai and Prayagraj.
Pilgrims will get benefits
The proposed projects will enhance transport convenience on the Mumbai-Prayagraj-Varanasi route by enabling operation of additional passenger trains, thereby providing services to the Jyotirlingas at Nashik (Trimbakeshwar), Khandwa (Omkareshwar) and Varanasi (Kashi Vishwanath) as well as to Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, Gaya and Shirdi. Like pilgrims visiting religious places will benefit.
Tourism will get a boost
Additionally, the projects will boost tourism through improved access to various attractions such as Khajuraho UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ajanta and Ellora Caves UNESCO World Heritage Site, Devagiri Fort, Asirgarh Fort, Rewa Fort, Yawal Wildlife Sanctuary, Kot Falls and Purva Falls .
Additional freight transportation will be possible
These are essential routes for transportation of goods like agricultural products, fertilizers, coal, steel, cement, containers. The capacity addition works will result in additional freight traffic of 51 MTPA (million tonnes per annum). Railways is an environment-friendly and energy-efficient means of transportation that will help achieve climate goals, reduce the country’s logistics costs, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions (271 crore kg) which would be offset by planting 11 crore trees. is equal to the benefit to the environment.
