Tur stock weak abroad, no recession expected before harvest
The stock of tuvar in Tanzania-Mozambique and Myanmar is now said to be limited after huge exports in the past. Meanwhile, the first arrival of the new crop in the country will be from Pratapgarh line in mid-December. By January, the assessment of this year’s tur crop in the country will be clear. On the other hand, there was an uptick in the domestic markets due to the passing of tenders in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat Civil Supplies. Pulses millers in Karnataka and Maharashtra are waiting for the new crop. The millers will purchase good quantity as soon as possible on the new crop.
The crop is expected to be sold immediately. In future, considering the increasing demand for Tur and less stock abroad, the prices of Tur may get further support. Here, in Indore, at present the customership of Tur is weak because the arrival of green vegetables has started increasing and the prices have started decreasing. However, there is no recession expected as the stock of Tur is also weak. On the other hand, urad was exported in large quantities from Myanmar.
Still the stock is continuously falling. Dependence on imports is increasing to meet the demand. International prices of urad are expected to increase. On the other hand, there is a situation of improvement in the price of gram due to limited inquiries and not enough arrivals.
