Women and Child Development Minister Ms. Nirmala Bhuria participated in the online training program for the newly appointed members of the Juvenile Justice Board and Child Protection Committee. He said that the members of the Child Welfare Committee or Juvenile Justice Board enjoy many rights. Your decisions regarding children in need of care and protection and children in legal dispute decide the future of the children. Therefore, take just decisions in the best interest of the children, this is what is expected from everyone.
Minister Ms Nirmala Bhuria said that the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 is a comprehensive law that provides justice and opportunities for the prosperity and development of juveniles. The law ensures the best interests of children and is committed to protecting the fundamental human rights of children in need of care and protection and children in conflict with the law. He said that training will be provided for effective implementation of this law and the provisions of the juvenile justice system in the best interest of children. Ms. Bhuria said that all of you are being entrusted with the responsibility of welfare and protection of children, only you can discharge it, no one else can do it, hence you should do your work with full dedication and vigilance.
In the program, Departmental Commissioner Mrs. Sufia Farooqui Wali also addressed the participants and stressed the need to develop adequate understanding of the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act and take decisions related to the rehabilitation of children with full sensitivity.
The training program will include POCSO Act, Juvenile Justice Act and Rules, Adoption Regulations, Mission Vatsalya Guidelines, various schemes run by the Central and State Government for child protection like – PM Cares for Children Scheme, Chief Minister Covid-19 Child Service Scheme, Chief Minister Detailed information will be provided regarding the role of Child Welfare Committee and Juvenile Justice Board for the implementation of Bal Ashirwad Yojana etc.
On the first day of the three-day training program, online training was given to 157 chairpersons and members of the newly appointed Child Welfare Committee and Juvenile Justice Board and 54 newly appointed employees of the District Child Protection Unit in 17 districts of the state.
