Australian player of Indian origin Harjas Singh created a stir by scoring a triple century in 50 overs cricket. He played a brilliant inning of 314 runs in 141 balls, in which he also hit 35 sixes. Last year, Harjas played a brilliant innings in the Under-19 World Cup final against India, in which Australia defeated India by 79 runs. Harjas was the only batsman who scored a half-century in that title match.
Harjas Singh now played this brilliant innings in domestic grade cricket in Australia. Whichever bowler came in front of him, he defeated him fiercely. Harjas played this historic innings against Sydney Cricket Club while playing for Western Suburbs Club.
First triple century in 50 overs format
Harjas Singh is only the third player to score a triple century in Australia’s New South Wales Premier First-Grade Cricket. Before him, Phil Jacques (321) and the great Victor Trumper (335) had done this. But the big thing is that Harjas scored this triple century in the 50 overs format. This is the first triple century in the history of 50-match cricket.
Parents are residents of Chandigarh
Harjas Singh was born in Sydney, but his roots are linked to India. His parents are originally from Chandigarh and settled in Australia from India in the year 2000. Let us tell you that his father Inderjit Singh has been a state level boxing champion, while his mother has been a state long jumper. Harjas chose cricket as his career, he has been playing cricket since the age of 8.
The trophy was snatched from India!
Harjas Singh played an inning of 55 runs in 64 balls in the final of Under-19 World Cup 2024 against India. In this innings he hit 3 sixes and the same number of fours. Apart from him, no other player from Australia or India was able to score a half-century in this final. Australia won the trophy by winning this match by 79 runs.
