A meeting of the State Apex Committee for the implementation of the new criminal laws Indian justice, Indian civil security, code and Indian Evidence Act was held at the Ministry of Mahanadi Bhavan here today under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain. New criminal laws have been implemented by the Government of India since 1 July 2024. These laws replace the Indian Penal Code, Penal Procedure Code and the Indian Evidence Act. The Chief Secretary has laid special emphasis on training of officers and employees for the implementation of new criminal laws, public awareness in public, video conferencing facility and information technology. DGP Arun Dev Gautam and Additional Chief Secretary Home and Jail Manoj Pinguwa were also present in the meeting.
Reviewing the implementation of new criminal laws, the Chief Secretary said that the Collector and Superintendent of Police of all the districts should work with sensitivity. The Chief Secretary said that the DM, SP, District Judge and other chief officers should work coordinated to ensure that the state should be topped in the observance and implementation of new laws till the next September according to the Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai. Under the implementation of new laws, the hearing of cases should be done quickly from the prescribed process, so it is necessary to have video conferencing facilities in the state government hospitals, jails, banks, FSLs and other major offices. Jain has said to ensure all the necessary arrangements as soon as possible. The Chief Secretary gave necessary guidelines to the Collector and Superintendents of Police to organize a fixed time meeting of the District Coordination Committee to review the implementation of new laws in all the districts.
Instructions were given to train officers and employees of police, jail, health department and courts. For this, instructions have been given to deploy good master trainers. The Chief Secretary took feedback from collectors regarding the implementation of new law. Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam gave necessary guidelines to the Superintendents of Police and Collectors regarding the implementation of new laws. He gave necessary instructions to take action for police remand and challan within the stipulated time. In the meeting, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Subodh Singh also gave important information through video conferencing. This meeting, organized by video conferencing, attended law and legislative work, health and family welfare, jail, state court science laboratory, Public Prosecution, NIC, Chips, Director NCRB and all Divisional Commissioners, Inspector General of Police, Collector and Superintendent of Police.
