Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee celebrations of Chhattisgarh Assembly, welcomed the President of India, Mrs. Draupadi Murmu, on behalf of the people, saying that it is the good fortune of all of us that when Chhattisgarh Assembly is celebrating its glorious 25 years, then the first citizens of the country are present among us. He said that in the year 2000, the silver year of Chhattisgarh, led by Bharat Ratna late Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji, is falling in his birth centenary year, which we are celebrating as the Atal construction year.
Chief Minister Sai said that our 25 -year visit to our assembly is a symbol of strong traditions of democracy. Chhattisgarh has strengthened Indian democracy from Vedic period from its actions. In the House, serious discussions on public interest topics, strong discourse and decisions taken in healthy environment, enrich our parliamentary culture. He said that the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly has given priority not only legislative work, but also the leadership development of delegates. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai said that our honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi says that the learning process should be done continuously. Recently, the Public Leadership Program held at IIM Raipur for the members of the Assembly is an example of this, where training was imparted on important aspects of leadership and administration. He said that we are all determined for the creation of developed India and developed Chhattisgarh.
Welcoming President Smt. Draupadi Murmu, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Dr. Raman Singh said that the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly has the distinction that the President of India has addressed the House for the third time. Earlier, late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and Mrs. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil have addressed the assembly. He described the simple, struggling and inspirational life of President Murmu ji as a source of inspiration for the women, public representatives and youth of the country. He described the 25 -year journey of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly as a journey to the strength of democratic values. He said that the tradition of ‘self -discipline’ was established in the House, where the members followed the rules made and presented examples for the whole country.
Dr. Singh said that the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly has created a national and international identity in the field of parliamentary activities. He mentioned that the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly passed the Public Service Guarantee Act in 2011, and the Food Safety Act in 2012, which symbolize Antyodaya and inclusive development. Dr. Raman Singh informed that soon the assembly will be transferred to the Naveen Building in Naya Raipur. He described the presence of the President as an indelible chapter in the memories of the House. He said that in the Assembly, the public representatives and journalists who have excelled in the House are regularly awarded and honored, who strengthen democratic consciousness.
Leader of Opposition Dr. Charandas Mahant, while welcoming the President of India Smt. Draupadi Murmu heartily, described her as a symbol of struggle, simplicity and service. He said that the life of the President is an inspiration for the whole country. He thanked the presence of President Mrs. Murmu as historic and said that we will all work with solidarity in the development of Chhattisgarh by taking inspiration from his words.
On this occasion, Governor Ramen Deka released the Member of the Assembly Reference Book and presented the first copy of the booklet to President Mrs. Draupadi Murm.
All ministers of the cabinet and all the members of the assembly were present on the occasion of the silver jubilee celebrations.
