Batting at number four in the Champions Trophy, Shreyas Iyer, who played a key role in India’s victory, is going to do something different in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He wants to leave his specific impression while batting at number three in this session of IPL.
Shreyas is not a part of India’s T20 team right now, but he wants to pave the way for returning to the national team by performing well for Punjab Kings in the IPL. Kolkata Knight Riders won the title under Iyer’s captaincy in the previous season. Iyer then batted in the middle order.
Talking to the media with Punjab Kings head coach Ricky Ponting, Shreyas Iyer said, “We all know that IPL is an integral part of Indian cricket and if I would like to establish myself in one place in T20, it will be the third number. My focus is on this. I would not say that we are making a plan about which number I have to bat. This time I am clear about my number in batting order and as long as the coach will get support, I will focus on that number. ”
Ponting praised Iyer fiercely saying that he was eager to re -work with this Indian player. The former Australia captain said, “I was desperate to work again with Shreyas. We had very good working relationships in Delhi for a long time.
He is one of the best players with whom I have worked. He is a very good person and IPL winning captain. What else do you need more than this. He is associated with the team a few days ago and wants to leave his mark on the team as a captain. ”Punjab Kings will play their first match against the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on 25 March.
