The Urban Development and Housing Department is working on a plan to make Indore a signal-equipped city. Its purpose is to operate traffic in the city uninterruptedly. Under the scheme, initiatives like fly-over, by-lane, under pass and intelligent traffic management system are being implemented. On completion of the scheme, the travel time of citizens in Indore city will be less and traffic will be smooth. The signal-equipped scheme will help in facilitating rapidly growing urban traffic and reducing travel time. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is also being used to make traffic management more smo and efficient. This technique will also reduce accidents.
Urban public transport
The department is operating 1330 buses on urban routes in urban areas of the state. In order to keep the environment clean in urban areas, the proposal of 552 e-Basis in the PM e-bus service has been sent to the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Estimates of bus depot infrastructure have been approved by Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Ujjain and Sagar. Along with this, the estimates of charging infrastructure have been approved by Bhopal, Jabalpur, Ujjain and Sagar. In order to promote the operation of electric vehicles in 3 cities of the state Bhopal, Indore and Jabalpur, 217 e-charging infrastructure development is being done by the department.
