New Delhi
Preparations for Republic Day are currently going on across the country. It is a national festival, which is celebrated with pomp on 26 January every year. This day is a proud day for every Indian. The day of 26 January is special in many ways, because this day reminds us of our republic. This day is considered special in the pages of history, because democracy was established in the country on this day.
Republic Day is celebrated every year on 26 January to celebrate this special occasion. On this occasion, there is an atmosphere of celebration across the country. Also, a parade is also organized on this day on the duty path in Delhi, the capital of the country. Apart from this, the Presidents of the country hoist the national flag on this occasion.
However, people are often confused about why the President hoists the flag on Republic Day and the Prime Minister hoisting the flag on Independence Day. In such a situation, today we will answer this question in this article. Also, we will know what is the difference between hoisting the flag and flag hoisting.
What is the flag hoisting?
The country is going to celebrate its 76th Republic Day this year. This means that India has completed 75 years of Republic. For this special occasion, preparations are being made in full swing across the country. Like every year, this year too, the President of the country will hoist the national flag on 26 January i.e. Republic Day. The national flag is tied upwards from the pole to hoist the flag and then pull the President’s rope and hoist the flag.
What happens in flag hoisting?
At the same time, flag hoisting is done on the occasion of Independence Day, which is quite different from hoisting the flag. On the occasion of August 15, the Prime Minister of the country hoists the flag at the Red Fort in Delhi. The flag hoisting is different from hoisting the flag. On this occasion, the national flag is drawn upwards and then hoisted.
This is done because when our country was liberated from slavery, then at that time the flag of the British government was removed and our national flag was offered up. This is the reason that on August 15, on Independence Day, the flag is offered upwards and then hoists.
This is why President hoists the tricolor on Republic Day?
Now the second question that often comes to the mind of the people is why the President on Republic Day and the Prime Minister on August 15 hoist the flag. Actually, this happens because when the country became independent on August 15, 1947, the Prime Minister was the head of the country at that time. Therefore, the flag was hoisted by Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
At the same time, on the occasion of Republic Day, when the Constitution came into force on 26 January 1950, Dr. Rajendra Prasad took oath of presidential at that time and hence he was the constitutional head of the country. In such a situation, he first hoisted the flag on Republic Day. Since then, this tradition has been going on.
