Emergency movie: The Ministry of External Affairs (Mea) on Friday condemned the incident of obstructing BJP MP Kangana Ranaut’s film ‘Emergency’ in Britain. Reacting to the controversy, Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal, while admitting the incident in a press conference, said, “We have seen many reports how the film ‘Emergency’ being released in many halls was being interrupted.”
The Foreign Ministry spokesman made strict comments, saying, “We constantly express concern before the UK government about the incidents of violent opposition and threats by anti -India elements.” Freedom of expression cannot be selected selectively, and those who obstruct it should be held accountable. He hoped that the UK government would take appropriate action against the miscreants. He said, our high age in London is in regular contact with our community members for safety and goodness.
The Ministry of External Affairs has come out after British Sikh groups organized protests against ‘Emergency’, which has disrupted its screening in some UK theaters since its release last Friday.
The controversy took a political turn when Conservative Party MP Bob Blackman condemned the disruption and called upon the Home Secretary to take action against masked Khalistani militants. Subsequently, Kangana criticized the silence of Indian politicians on the issue.
In a social media post, he said, a British MP raises his voice for my fundamental right to freedom of speaking, meanwhile, there is silence from Indian politicians and feminists.
