Fishermen found a huge 65 kg fish while fishing in Saroda reservoir of the district on Monday, which has become a subject of curiosity among the people. Fishermen had cast their nets to catch fish in the Saroda reservoir in the morning. Suddenly the net became heavy and the fisherman felt that some big stone or heavy object was stuck in the net.

When he tried to pull the net, he failed. After this, other fishermen were called and with the help of three companions, the net was taken out. As soon as they took it out, the fishermen saw that a huge fish 6 feet long and weighing 65 kg was stuck in it. People looked very excited after seeing the fish.

The expert said that it is a fish of black carp species, whose body is fusiform. They appear dark brown, gray or bluish black and have dark feathers.

Saroda reservoir becomes center of local employment

Saroda Reservoir is part of the medium irrigation project of Kabirdham district. The reservoir is used for fish farming. This reservoir has been given on lease to the three major fishermen societies here – Netaji Fishermen Committee, Shriram Fishermen Cooperative Society, and Kenwat Fishermen Committee. According to the Fisheries Department, the reservoir has become a major center of employment for the local people.

Even before this, huge fishes have been caught in Saroda reservoir. Fishermen say that a few years ago a fish weighing 80 kg was found here. This time’s 65 kg fish is also a big achievement. Fishermen committee members Hiralal Mallah, Sukhdevram Mallah, and Rajendra Mallah played a key role in catching this huge fish.

The caught fish will be taken to the local market for sale. Fishermen Committee members said that fish farming is not only increasing their income, but it is also helpful in the economic development of the area.
