Tripura
Tripura Transport Minister Sushant Chaudhary alleged that a bus going from Agartala to Kolkata was attacked in Bangladesh. He told that this incident happened on Vishwa Road in Brahmanbaria district of Bangladesh. Transport Minister Sushant Chaudhary has given information about the incident by sharing pictures on social media. While sharing pictures of the bus on the social media platform ‘Facebook’, Chaudhary wrote, “‘Shyamoli Transport’ bus going from Tripura to Kolkata was attacked on Vishwa Road in Brahmanbaria, Bangladesh. Indian passengers traveling in the bus were horrified by this incident. The bus was moving in its lane when a truck deliberately hit it. “During this time, an autorickshaw came in front of the bus and there was a collision between the bus and the autorickshaw.”

Anti-India slogans raised, passengers threatened
He said, “After this incident, the local people started threatening the Indian passengers traveling in the bus. They also raised anti-India slogans and misbehaved with Indian passengers and threatened to kill them. I strongly condemn this incident and urge the administration of the neighboring country to ensure the safety of Indian passengers.” Buses between Kolkata and Agartala operate via Dhaka as this reduces the travel distance by more than half. It is cheaper than air travel and takes less time than traveling by train through Assam. Train travel usually takes more than 30 hours.

Chief Minister Manik Saha’s reaction
Chief Minister Manik Saha said that he received information about the attack on the bus and he is trying to gather more information about it. He said, “I have received information that a bus carrying passengers from Agartala to Kolkata was attacked on Vishwa Road in Brahmanbaria on Saturday. I am trying to gather concrete information in this matter.”

Expressing concern over attacks on minority Hindus in the neighboring country, Saha said that the whole world is watching how Hindus are facing oppression in Bangladesh. “Since our state is surrounded by Bangladesh on three sides, I have asked the Border Security Force (BSF) and police to maintain strict vigil along the international border,” he said.
