Another Hindu priest has been arrested amid ongoing attacks and repression on the Hindu community in Bangladesh. International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) has confirmed this. The arrested priest has been identified as Shyam Das Prabhu, who had allegedly gone to meet jailed spiritual leader Chinmoy Krishna Das. According to the report, Shyam Das Prabhu was arrested by the Chittagong Police without any official warrant. There is deep resentment among the Hindu community and religious organizations after this incident. Expressing strong protest over this arrest, Radharaman Das, vice president and spokesperson of ISKCON Kolkata, wrote on social media, “Today Chittagong Police has arrested another celibate Shyam Das Prabhu.”

already stressful environment
Earlier on Monday, former ISKCON member and spiritual leader Chinmoy Krishna Das was arrested in a sedition case. He was denied bail on Tuesday, further increasing the atmosphere of fear and insecurity in the Hindu community.

ISKCON protested against the arrest
ISKCON and other Hindu organizations have strongly condemned these arrests. Radharaman Das said the action was an attempt to intimidate the minority Hindu community and suppress religious freedom. He has demanded the Bangladesh government to ensure the safety of minorities and conduct an impartial investigation into these incidents.
