Dhaka
Chinmoy Prabhu, who is leading the minority Hindu community, has been arrested amid increasing atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh. Bangladesh’s ISKCON temple side said that Chinmoy Prabhu was allegedly arrested by the detective branch officials of Dhaka Police from Dhaka airport.
Chinmoy Prabhu had addressed a huge protest rally in Rangpur on Friday against the atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh.
The fundamentalist Jamaat-e-Islami, under the leadership and support of BNP, is openly threatening to kill ISKCON devotees. In the same sequence, the spiritual leader of Bangladesh ISKCON, Chinmoy Krishna Prabhu, called Hindus the real children of Bangladeshi soil and alleged that the government is conspiring to divide Hindus among themselves.
Chinmay Prabhu has been raising his voice against the atrocities on Hindus after the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government. On Friday itself, he had addressed a huge protest rally in Rangpur.
Bangladeshi Hindus are on target after Sheikh Hasina’s departure
Due to the student movement in Bangladesh, the minority Hindus living there are under target after the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government. Hindus and their religious places were targeted during the student movement. ISKCON temple located in Khulna, Meherpur of Bangladesh was also targeted.
Regarding this attack, Chinmoy Prabhu had expressed deep concern over the security of Hindu temples. While talking to Aaj Tak, he had then said, ‘Three temples in Chittagong are in danger, but the Hindu community, along with some people from the Muslim community, has saved them so far.’
He had claimed that the Hindu community is requesting the police and Rapid Action Battalion in Chittagong for help but no response is being received from their side.
Chinmoy Prabhu had said, ‘Many Hindus and other minorities are feeling unsafe and are fleeing to India through West Bengal and Tripura.’
‘Voice of Bangladeshi Hindu’ made a post on social media site X. Through which Handel quoted Chinmoy Krishna Prabhu’s statement, “We are Aryans, we are the true children of this soil. Don’t leave this country and go anywhere. They are trying to divide us. Stay united, don’t stay divided.”
It is noteworthy that with the fall of Sheikh Hasina Wazed’s government on August 5, the Islamic fundamentalist government led by BNP comes to power in Bangladesh. With this, attacks by fundamentalists suddenly increased against minorities. Every day Hindus were attacked in some way or the other. When Hindus took out a rally in Chittagong under the leadership of ISKCON, the very next day a case of treason was registered against 19 people including ISKCON President Chinmoy Krishna Das, accusing them of insulting the Bangladeshi flag. Recently ISKCON was declared a terrorist in Bangladesh.
