UPSC approves the panel of three IPS officers for the new DGP of Madhya Pradesh

A meeting was held in Delhi today, Thursday, regarding the selection of the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Madhya Pradesh. At 4:30 pm, the PSC has approved the panel of three names for DGP. These three IPS officers are Arvind Kumar (DG Home Guard), Kailash Makwana (Chairman of Police Housing Corporation) and Ajay Sharma (DG EOW) of 1999 batch.

Sudhir Kumar is retiring on 30th November

Apart from two joint secretaries of the Union Home Ministry, MP Chief Secretary Anurag Jain and current DGP Sudhir Saxena and other officials participated in this meeting chaired by the Chairman of UPSC. Out of the nine IPS officers sent to the meeting, the names of three were approved on the panel. Now Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will approve one of these names. Let us tell you that Sudhir Kumar Saxena is retiring on 30th November.

UPSC has approved the panel of three names for the post of new DGP. These three names are 1988 batch IPS officer Arvind Kumar (DG Home Guard), Kailash Makwana (Chairman of Police Housing Corporation) and 1999 batch Ajay Sharma (DG EOW).

DG-IG conference and important decisions

Let us tell you that from 28th to 30th November, DG-IG conference will also be organized in Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval will be present in this conference. During this time, current DGP Sudhir Kumar Saxena will retire. It is believed that officers working as OSD will represent the state police in this conference.

CM will go abroad

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav is going on the first foreign trip of his tenure. His tour of Britain and Germany is proposed from 24 to 30 November. The Chief Minister will go to Police Headquarters (PHQ) on 23rd November only after announcing who will be the OSD (Officer on Special Duty), so that the ceremony of farewell of current DGP Sudhir Kumar Saxena and assuming the chair of the new DGP can be completed on 30th November.

Now IPS Kailash Makwana is leading in the race for MP DGP.

Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Kailash Makwana, who is one of the honest police officers of Madhya Pradesh, has every chance of becoming the new chief of Madhya Pradesh Police i.e. DGP. Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has approved the panel of three IPS officers for the post of new DGP of Madhya Pradesh, in which the name of Kailash Makwana is included. The other two names are DG Home Guard Arvind Kumar and EOW DG Ajay Sharma.

Eyes are on CM

There is a tough competition between Police Housing Corporation Chairman Kailash Makwana and EOW’s Ajay Sharma. Now all eyes are on Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, he will announce the name of the new DGP.

Three names have been finalized

Madhya Pradesh government had sent a panel of names of 9 senior officers to UPSC for the new DGP. Late evening on 21st November, a meeting was held in UPSC Delhi, in which 3 out of 9 names were finalised. Current DGP Sudhir Saxena is retiring on November 30. After this, the new DGP will start working on December 1.

Kailash Makwana is in the lead in the race

Kailash Makwana’s name is appearing at the top because in February 2024, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav had rectified his deteriorated CR. It is said that he was then given a score of 10 out of 10. Earlier, due to poor CR, he was being ruled out of DGP claim.

Was transferred seven times in three and a half years

Makwana had appealed to the Madhya Pradesh government 9 months ago to improve his ACR (confidential character list). While sending a representation, he had told the government that his ACR was spoiled during the six months of his stay as DG in the Lokayukta organization. He was transferred thrice in just one year in the Kamal Nath government. He was transferred 7 times in 3 and a half years.

Director General of Lokayukta was made

Makwana was made the Director General in the special police establishment Lokayukta in the year 2022. He was working honestly here, he also opened a file of Mahakal Lok. After this, the then CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan removed him and made him the chairman of Madhya Pradesh Police Housing Corporation. Then Shivraj’s OSD Yogesh Chaudhary was posted as ADG Special Police Establishment, Lokayukta. Then his CR was reduced.

What is Mahakal Corridor ‘Scam’

The complaint of corruption in the works of the first phase of Mahakal Lok Corridor of Ujjain had reached the Lokayukta. Congress MLA Mahesh Parmar in the Lokayukta organization has complained that apart from three IAS officers, notices were given to 15 officers seeking their answers. The Lokayukta notice included three IAS, Ujjain Collector and Smart City Limited Chairman Ashish Singh, the then Executive Director of Smart City Ujjain Kshitij Singhal and the then Municipal Corporation Commissioner Anshul Gupta. The complainants had alleged that the rates and items of the SOR had been changed to provide benefits worth crores to the contractor.
