London has been voted the best city in the annual ranking of the world’s best cities for the 10th consecutive year. The British capital retained the top spot, leaving behind New York, Paris and Tokyo. The ranking, compiled by Resonance, a global advisor in real estate, tourism and economic development, evaluates cities with a population of more than 1 million. According to the report, London has always dominated the rankings. Even though the evaluation criteria keep changing every year.

The ranking reflects London’s global appeal. It is a city which has been a symbol of cultural heritage, strong business infrastructure. In this year’s ranking, public perception was included. For the first time, insights from over 22,000 people across 30 countries were included and perception-based data was added to the analysis. Many other factors were considered in the assessment, including quality of environment, cultural vibrancy, dining, nightlife, shopping and business infrastructure.

In this, the connectivity of the regional airport and the quality of universities were also assessed. “People are moving and migrating, a trend that has accelerated during the pandemic,” said Chris Fair, President and CEO of Resonance. People are looking for not only affordable but also charming places. The results show that people around the world desire to live, visit and work in the largest cities.”
