A former American female teacher has been found guilty of having sexual relations with students studying in the school. He is sentenced to 30 years in prison. The matter is of Maryland. 32-year-old Melissa Curtis was sentenced on a third-degree sex crime charge. She had sex with a 14-year-old boy more than 20 times.
Melissa Curtis was acquitted on three counts. He will have to remain in jail for three decades. Out of this, except for 12 months, all other sentences will remain suspended. The woman will have to remain under observation for five years. After his release, Curtis will have to register as a sex offender for 25 years. As a condition of the supervision, he will not be allowed to have unsupervised contact with minors other than his children. He has been asked to stay away from underage children.
Had sex with eighth class student more than 20 times
Curtis surrendered before the police on November 7, 2023. He was charged with multiple counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and third- and fourth-degree sexual assault. Curtis had sexual relations with the children between January and May 2015. He had given alcohol and marijuana to the eighth grade student. Had sexual relations with her more than 20 times.
Curtis had been a teacher for about two years. He also taught at Lakelands Park Middle School. Curtis ran an after-school program. She would build relationships with the students who attended. Police started investigation in October 2023. The victim students had accused the woman of misbehavior.
