Telecom rules are changed from time to time by the government. Some new rules were put in place in the Telecom Act. Now it has been said that this should also be followed. All states have been asked to strictly follow these rules. This was named the Right of Way (RoW) rule. Every state was asked to adopt it and exemption in charges was also given to different states.
Answer sought by 30th November
The report claims that the new rule is going to come into effect from January 1. It will be boosted in installing optical fiber and telecom towers. Telecom operators and infrastructure providers are also going to get a lot of help from this. DoT Secretary Neeraj Mittal has written a letter to the secretaries of all the states on this matter. He said that everyone should ensure it by 30th November. The new rules of RoW portal will be implemented from January 1.
The state will get more power
Mittal wrote, ‘The new rule should come into effect from January 2025. The current RoW rules should stop here. That means now the new rule will be implemented. After the new rule comes, the states will be given more power so that they can themselves give clarification to the authority on this matter.
What are RoW rules?
If we understand the RoW rule in simple words, it is the same rule that sets the standards for setting up towers or telecom infrastructure on public and private property. It is with its help that the government focuses on modernizing the telecom infrastructure.
Property owners and telecom providers follow RoW rules only. Because under this, a lot of importance is given to public safety and transparency. New rules are coming from January 1, 2025, after which many changes can be seen.
There will be complete focus on 5G
More emphasis is being given to 5G in the new rules of RoW. Now telecom infrastructure is being installed rapidly. This rule sounds quite positive for fast networks as the focus will be on installing new towers for 5G. The maximum limit will also be fixed in this.
