All public representatives and farmers should be linked to cooperatives: Kedar Kashyap

Cooperative Minister Kedar Kashyap has said that for prosperity through cooperatives, all public representatives and farmers of the state should be linked to cooperatives. The Cooperative Minister conducted a thorough review of the working of the Cooperative Department at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan here today. Shri Kashyap said that Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah is paying special attention to prosperity through cooperation. We have to discharge the responsibilities of cooperative in the state well. For this, it is necessary to perform better in the cooperative sector in the entire state.

While conducting a departmental review, the Cooperation Minister took detailed information about the preparations made for paddy procurement in the Kharif year 2024-25. It was informed in the meeting that a target has been set to purchase 160 lakh metric tonnes of paddy in the Kharif season. So far, about 4 lakh metric tons of paddy has been purchased. The Cooperative Minister has told the officials that it should be ensured that the farmers coming to sell paddy in cooperative societies do not face any kind of inconvenience. Taking information about the arrangements for operation of micro ATMs in the committees, he said that this facility should be ensured in every committee. Rupay cards should be distributed to the farmers.

In the meeting, establishment of fisheries, dairy and minor forest produce committees under multi-dimensional committees in every gram panchayat of the state, construction of warehouses in PACS committees were reviewed. Instructions were given to the officials in the PACS committees in which warehouses have not been constructed. Construction should be done there soon. Information was given in the meeting that under the world’s largest decentralized food storage scheme, RIDF has been launched by the Government of India. Under the scheme, consent has been given to include 725 PACS warehouses of 200 metric tonne capacity in the state. Due to which the storage capacity of the state will increase by one lakh 45 thousand metric tons. During the review, the progress of computerization and establishment of common service centers in all the cooperative societies was reviewed.

Similarly, membership in Indian Seed Cooperative Society, National Cooperative Export Society, National Cooperative Organic Society was also reviewed. N.C.C.F. Officials gave detailed information regarding registration in the portal. Officials said that Chhattisgarh has become the first and only state in the country to register all the packs of the state in this portal for maize procurement at support price. The establishment of Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras in PACS committees was also reviewed in the meeting.

Registrar Cooperative Societies Mr. Kuldeep Sharma, Managing Director Chhattisgarh Minor Forest Produce Association and PCCF Mr. Anil Sahu along with Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, State Cooperative Marketing, State Cooperative Bank and all joint registrars, cooperative institutions and other senior officers of the Cooperative Department participated in the meeting.
