The Indian women’s hockey team has won the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy with a brilliant performance. This title match was played on Wednesday (20 November) in Rajgir, Bihar, in which the Indian team faced China.
In this match, the Indian team showed a strong game and defeated China 1-0. With this, the Indian team won this title for the third time. Deepika scored the only goal for the team in the 31st minute. This was his 11th goal of the tournament. Apart from this, China tried to score several goals, but their intention could not be fulfilled.
This time India did not lose any match in the tournament
The last title was also won by the Indian team. In such a situation, this has been the second consecutive title of the team. The host Indian team has been undefeated in the tournament this time. This is the only team which has not been defeated so far. India has won all its matches even in the group stage.
The Indian team had defeated Japan 2-0 in the semi-finals on Tuesday. On the other hand, China also has a good record in the tournament. It had to face defeat only from the Indian team in the group stage. China has won 4 out of its 5 pool games. It defeated Malaysia 3-1 in the semi-finals.
In this way, the Indian team defeated China for the second time in the current tournament. The Indian women’s team won the silver medal in Paris Olympics 2024. On the other hand, the Indian team won the first title under Harendra Singh as the head coach.
This is how India scored the first match winning goal
Half time of the match was equal without any goal between the two teams. But in the third quarter, Deepika was seen in a different color. Deepika opened the account of the Indian team in the 31st minute. Actually, India got a penalty corner due to China’s mistake.
Sushila makes a mistake on the trap from the penalty corner, but Navneet gets the ball, she creates space in the D and passes it to Deepika. Deepika takes her time and scores the goal brilliantly with her reverse hit. In this way the Indian team won the match and the title.
The Indian team won the overall title for the third time. The host team remained undefeated in the tournament and won the shining trophy. Bihar government decided to give a reward of Rs 10 lakh to each player of the women’s hockey team. The Chinese team won the silver medal in the Paris Olympics. Indian girls showed excellent performance throughout the tournament.
A statement issued by the Bihar government said, ‘Each player of the team will receive Rs 10 lakh for their excellent performance at the Rajgir Hockey Stadium during the tournament.’ Chief coach Harendra Singh and his support staff will also be given awards by the government of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Apart from this, head coach Harendra Singh was given a reward of Rs 10 lakh while the rest of the support staff will get Rs 5 lakh each.
Hockey India will give Rs 3 lakh each to the players
Hockey India announced a reward of Rs 3 lakh to each player. Apart from this, the Hockey Federation also announced to give Rs 1.5 lakh to all the members of the support staff. On becoming the winner, the Indian team received 10,000 US dollars from the Asian Hockey Federation.
Deepika became the golden girl
The Indian team, which had won this title in Ranchi last year and in Singapore in 2016, showed tremendous coordination and restraint and kept China on the sidelines. After a goalless first half, Deepika created excitement among the spectators present at the packed Bihar Sports University Stadium by scoring a goal on the penalty corner awarded to India in the very first minute of the second half. In the very first minute of the second half, Lalremsiami gave a penalty corner to India. The first shot missed but the ball was inside the circle and deflected from Navneet’s stick and reached Deepika who put it inside the goal with a brilliant flick.
