A painful incident has come to light from Madhya Pradesh where a mother lost her child just minutes after delivery. The incident took place in a village in Shivpuri district where the woman was taken to the health center when she experienced labor pains but there was no doctor to see the woman. Later, the delivery was done with the help of a sweeper but the woman lost the child just minutes after the birth of the child.
District health officer Sanjay Rishiwar claimed that the doctor was busy giving his exams due to which there was no doctor at the health centre, according to the Indian Express report. He said, the sweeper has been removed from the job.
The incident is said to have happened on Sunday. The woman has been identified as 32-year-old Rajni Ojha. According to the report, she experienced labour pains at around 9 am on Sunday. Her husband called for an ambulance several times but none of the ambulances arrived on time. After this, the woman was taken to the health centre in a private vehicle but there was neither any doctor nor any nurse to attend to her. The woman’s husband Ram Sevak Ojha said, we called several times but no ambulance was available. We reached the health centre here in a private vehicle but there was no doctor or nurse here either. The delivery took place but the child could not be saved.
He said that he had reached the hospital by 12.30 pm but no health worker was present there. In such a situation, a female sweeper took his wife to the labour room. She gave birth to a girl, but due to lack of timely treatment, the child died within a few minutes. On the other hand, the sweeper who was removed from the job said that doctors and nurses do not come on duty on Sundays.
