Historic decision of MP High Court on compassionate appointment<\/h3>\n
Bahodapur resident Ranjit Singh’s father was working as a jail guard. He died on 14 May 2022. Ranjit Singh applied for compassionate appointment on 26 May 2022. Ranjit’s application was rejected on July 21 on the grounds that both his brothers were already employed; One in government service and the other as an outsourced employee. Later, one of Ranjit’s brothers resigned from his job. On this basis, Ranjit again applied for compassionate appointment, but this time also the application was rejected.<\/p>\n
Will not get the benefit of compassion<\/h3>\n
The court said in its order that compassionate appointment can be given only in cases falling within the scope of the policy. This is a measure to provide relief from immediate economic crisis, and not a right. The Court emphasized that both Ranjit’s brothers were in service at the time of the deceased’s demise, hence the denial of appointment was in accordance with the policy.
