The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday (October 8) conducted raids at 17 different places in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, tightening the noose on luxury car smuggling and forex scam. Which included the houses of many celebrities like Malayalam film actors like Mammootty and his son Salman, actor Prithviraj. ED said that this action is related to violation of Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).<\/p>\n
ED raided the house of Malayalam actor Mammootty in Elamkulam, while raided the houses of his son Dulquer Salmaan in Kochi and Chennai. Apart from these, the ED team has also cracked down on car dealers in a total of 5 districts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.<\/p>\n
Expensive cars came to India from Bhutan and Nepal<\/h3>\n
Investigation has revealed that some people are bringing expensive cars to India illegally through Bhutan and Nepal. These cars include names of many expensive vehicles like Toyota, Land Cruiser etc. Fake documents have been made for these cars. In which fake documents have been included in the name of Indian Army, American Embassy and Foreign Ministry.<\/p>\n

The inputs revealed that vehicles like Land Cruiser, Defender, Maserati were being imported and registered illegally through the Indo-Bhutan\/Nepal route. Preliminary investigation revealed that the Coimbatore based network got fake RTO registrations done in many states including Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh by using fake documents of the Indian Army, US Embassy and the Ministry of External Affairs.<\/p>\n
Sell \u200b\u200bvehicles to celebrities at low prices<\/h3>\n
After this, these vehicles were sold at low prices to celebrities and HNI customers. ED has initiated this action on violation of Sections 3, 4 and 8 of FEMA. In which cross border illegal transactions through Hawala channels have been detected. Money trail, beneficiary network and forex movement are now being investigated in the investigation. The raids are being conducted at 17 premises in Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Mallapuram, Kottayam and Coimbatore. These also include the residences of film stars Prithviraj, Dulquer Salmaan and Amit Chakkakal and the locations of other businessmen.
