A major step has been taken regarding the defensive partnership between India and Britain. Both the countries have signed a new defense agreement, under which Britain will supply light missiles to India and advanced engines for the navy. This deal is worth about 350 million pounds (about 468 million dollars) and its purpose is to further strengthen India’s defense power.<\/p>\n

This announcement came when Britain’s new Prime Minister Keir Starmer was on a visit to India and met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Mumbai. In this meeting, both the leaders discussed increasing cooperation not only in defense but also in important areas like trade and technology.<\/p>\n

Indian Army will get light missiles made in Britain<\/h3>\n

Under this defense deal, India will get Lightweight Multi-role Missiles (LMMs) made by British company Thales. These missiles are made in Northern Ireland and currently these missiles are also being supplied to Ukraine.<\/p>\n

According to the British government, this new deal will protect 700 jobs at the Thales factory that manufactures these missiles. This deal is very special for India because it is a strong step towards making its military capabilities high-tech.<\/p>\n

Modern electric engines will be available for Navy<\/h3>\n

The second major agreement in the defense sector between India and Britain is regarding electric propulsion engine. These engines will be used in naval ships, which will also increase India’s maritime power. This deal is worth approximately 250 million pounds and now its next phase has started. With these electric engines, Indian Navy ships will become more silent, faster and energy-sensitive, which will help in dealing with enemies at sea.<\/p>\n

Growing India-UK defense cooperation<\/h3>\n

The new government of Britain wants to work with India in the defense sector for a long time. Keir Starmer has said that by strengthening his country’s defense industry, he will not only increase jobs, but will also advance defense cooperation with countries of the world, especially partners like India.<\/p>\n
