The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, while issuing an important advisory, has given clear instructions that children under two years of age should not be given any type of cough syrup or cold medicines. Also, these drugs are generally not recommended for children under five years of age. This step has been taken for the purpose of protecting infants from potential side effects and ensuring safety of their health.<\/p>\n

As soon as advisory is issued Chhattisgarh<\/strong> The Health Department, while taking prompt action, has issued necessary instructions to the Chief Medical and Health Officers (CMHO) and civil surgeons of all the districts. All government and private health institutions have been directed to ensure strict adherence to this guideline of the Government of India.<\/p>\n

Also, by organizing a high -level video conference in this regard by Commissioner Health Services, strict instructions have been given to all district level departmental officers that the use of cough or cold medicines should be based only on medical consultation, and no negligence should be taken in this regard.<\/p>\n

According to experts, in most cases, common diseases like cough and cold in children are cured on their own and it is not necessary to give medicines for this. Therefore, the general public will also be made aware of not giving medicines to children without the advice of the doctor.<\/p>\n

Drug supply system is under strict supervision<\/h3>\n

According to information received from Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation (CGMSC), two companies against which action has been taken in other states has no government supply in the state. These companies are also not registered in the database of CGMSC.

Inspection of construction units and private dispensaries intensified<\/h3>\n
