A big and important decision has come to light on school education from Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. The District Education Officer (DEO) of Raipur has strictly banned the use of books of private publishers in all private schools in the district. Now schools will have to study from books prescribed by their concerned boards. The purpose of this decision is to bring transparency in the education system and reduce the economic burden on the parents.<\/p>\n

Now only NCERT and Text Book Corporation’s books are valid<\/h3>\n

According to the order issued by the DEO, schools recognized by CBSE and ICSE will now have to use only NCERT books. At the same time, schools recognized by Chhattisgarh State Board (CG News) will have to teach books published by Chhattisgarh Text Book Corporation. In violation of the order, strict action will be taken against schools under the Right to Education Act 2009.<\/p>\n

CG News: Ban on uniform sale also<\/h3>\n

The DEO’s instructions also clarify that any private school will neither be able to sell uniform related items like shoes, socks, tie, belts, bags, notebooks etc. in their premises nor can compel the parents to buy these goods from a particular shop. For some time, there were constant complaints in this regard that many schools are selling these goods at arbitrary prices. It has now been completely banned.<\/p>\n

Certificate of following rules mandatory<\/h3>\n

All private schools (CG News) have been directed to ensure all the rules before the start of the new academic session. Along with this, a certificate of compliance will also have to be submitted to the Deo office through the Nodal Principal.<\/p>\n

CG News: Private School Management Association expressed protest<\/h3>\n

The Deo’s decision has been opposed by the Chhattisgarh Private School Management Association. The association says that NCERT books are not available on time, which makes it necessary to resort to the books of private publishers in an alternative form. He has also sent a letter to the DEO office demanding to postpone the order immediately.<\/p>\n
