New Delhi<\/strong><\/p>\nThe Reserve Bank of India has canceled the license of Imperial Urban Co-operative Bank in Jalandhar, Punjab. The reason behind this is that the bank does not have enough capital. RBI says that there is no possibility of bank earnings for banking operations in future also.<\/p>\n
After this decision of the central bank, there is an atmosphere of tension among the customers of Imperial Urban Co-operative Bank. The bank will not be able to do any banking activities since the closure of the business on 24 April 2025.<\/p>\n
The RBI has canceled its license due to not having enough capital with the bank. Now customers want to know what will happen to their money deposited in the bank. Customers will be able to get the deposit of up to Rs 5 lakh back under the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation.<\/p>\n
The RBI has also ordered the registrar of government committees of Punjab to appoint a liquidator as per appropriate action to close the bank.<\/p>\n
How many customers will get the full amount?<\/strong>
According to the data of Imperial Urban Co-operative Bank, about 97.79 percent of the customers will get their entire deposit. The central bank has canceled the license of Imperial Urban Co-operative Bank with immediate effect.<\/p>\nDICGC has already paid Rs 5.41 crore under the insured deposits. RBI says that allowing the bank to operate further operation will be against the interests of the customers.<\/p>\n
This means that now the bank will neither be able to accept any deposit nor pay the deposit amount. Let us tell you that RBI monitors the operation of banks.
