The Supreme Court refused to ban the construction work of the Dharavi Redevelopment Project (DRP). The court ruled in favor of the Adani Group keeping the Bombay High Court verdict. Hearing the petition of the UAE -based Sectank Technologies Corporation, the Supreme Court said that the project work has already started and some railway quarters have also been demolished. In his petition, Sectalink challenged the Maharashtra government’s decision in which its earlier bid was canceled and the project was handed over to Adani Property Limited.<\/p>\nHowever, the Supreme Court directed that all the payment related to the project should be made from the single escrow account. A bench of Chief Justice (CJI) Sanjeev Khanna and Justice PV Sanjay Kumar verbally stated that the decision of the Bombay High Court was appropriate, as the railway line would also be developed in the project.<\/p>\n
The Supreme Court has issued notice to the Maharashtra government and Adani Properties and fixed May 25 for the next hearing of the case. Second Technologies claimed that it had bid for Rs 7,200 crore for Dharavi redevelopment in 2019, which was canceled by the Maharashtra government and issued a new tender in 2022, which was given to Adani Group. Sexlink said in the Supreme Court that it is ready to increase its dialect by 20 percent. The court directed the seclink to submit the details of its revised dialect in an affidavit.<\/p>\n
The project is planned to convert the Dharavi region of Mumbai, which is considered to be the largest slum in Asia, to a modern urban center. The Adani Group’s real estate company, Adani Properties, won 80 percent stake in the project by making the highest bid in November 2022, while the Maharashtra government has the remaining 20 percent share.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
