The Supreme Court on Friday stayed the High Court order which had ordered the Delhi government to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Central government to implement the Ayushman Bharat health scheme in the capital. A bench of Justice BR Gavai and Justice AG Masih also issued notice to the Centre, AIIMS and Delhi Municipal Corporation after hearing the Delhi government&#8217;s petition. Last month, the High Court had asked the Center and the state government to sign a memorandum of understanding by January 5 to ensure that the central scheme is implemented in the national capital. AAP government is opposing the Central Health Scheme in Delhi. The government says that people in Delhi get &#8216;better benefits&#8217; under the state government schemes.<\/p>\n<p>Bharatiya Janata Party is continuously attacking the ruling Aam Aadmi Party regarding this matter. Party leaders are repeatedly asking why the Delhi government is not implementing the Centre&#8217;s plan. Senior advocate AM Singhvi, appearing in the Supreme Court on behalf of the AAP government, on Friday argued that by forcing them to sign an MoU with the Centre, the High Court has redefined the powers of the Central government with respect to health. .<\/p>\n<p>Earlier on Tuesday, the BJP accused the AAP government of blocking the Ayushman Bharat scheme and denying better health services to Delhi residents by not accepting Rs 2,400 crore to strengthen medical facilities in the city. Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva alleged that the AAP government has stopped the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme for political reasons.
