He spoke on the ongoing debate on working-hour balance initiated by the country&#8217;s top corporate leaders. Speaking at the &#8216;Develop India Youth Leaders Dialogue 2025&#8217; event in the national capital, Mahindra told a packed house that the debate was going in the wrong direction. The business leader quipped, \u201cI respect Narayana Murthy and other corporate leaders a lot. I say that we should focus on the quality of work, not the quantity of work. So it is not about working 70 or 90 hours.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Anand Mahindra further said that it depends on the work output and \u201cyou can change the world in 10 hours.\u201d When asked how many hours he puts in at work, he said, \u201cI don&#8217;t want it to be about time. I don&#8217;t want it to be about quantity. Ask me what is the quality of my work. Don\u2019t ask me how many hours I work.\u201d According to him, his source of renewable energy is to \u201crecharge his batteries by interacting with young people\u201d. He said, \u201cToday, I lived up to all my expectations, so my battery is fully charged.<\/p>\n<p>The controversy over work-life balance started this week when L&#038;T Chairman S.N. Subramanian suggested employees to work 90 hours a week including Sundays. After facing criticism, the company said the chairman&#8217;s comments reflected its larger ambition of nation building. From Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone to RPG Group chairperson Harsh Goenka, top personalities condemned Subramanian&#8217;s remarks.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Department of Youth Affairs is organizing &#8216;Develop India Youth Leaders Dialogue&#8217; at Bharat Mandapam on January 10-12.
