India’s young cricketer Pratika Raval said being a psychology student helped her cement her place in the senior women’s team as she was aware of the importance of the mental aspect. Pratika made a stellar debut in the recent women’s ODI series against West Indies and cemented her claim to open the innings along with Smriti Mandhana. Pratika scored 40 and 76 runs in the first two matches.<\/p>\nTwenty-four-year-old Pratika said that her keen interest in psychology and love for cricket made her journey to the Indian team easy. “I wanted to study about the human mind,” she said in the video ‘Pratika Raval: Psychology meets cricket’ shared by BCCI on ‘X’. When I started studying, I wanted to know how we face situations on and off the field. This helped me a lot in cricket also.<\/p>\n
This Delhi cricketer said, “When I am on the field before the match, I talk to myself very positively. What do I want to do now and what will I do in the future? Even while batting, I tell myself that you are the best and can do this.” Raval, who has retained her place in the team for the upcoming ODI series against Ireland, said, “I used to study in Modern School Barakhamba. My family’s emphasis has always been on education, although I do not deny my love and passion for cricket.
