On an average, 15 to 20 DNAs are being collected daily in the forensic labs of the state from cases related to serious crimes. Due to system updates, there is not a single pending DNA case at present. According to officials, electric devices related to different cases currently registered by ED, EOW, CBI have also been examined in the State Forensic Lab. In the investigation, forensic examination of the hard disk of mobile, laptop and computer has been done and the report has been submitted to the concerned agencies. On the basis of their report, the concerned investigating agencies have arrested the accused in corruption related cases.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DNA test in all murder cases<\/strong><br \/>DNA testing is being done in all murder cases to ensure that those accused of murder do not get easily acquitted in the court by resorting to legal tricks and taking benefit of doubt. Earlier, DNA testing was done in suspected cases of murder. At present DNA testing is being done in all murder cases.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Helped in solving unresolved cases<\/strong><br \/>The updated DNA testing system has helped the police in solving many serious crimes. The accused was identified on the basis of DNA evidence in a case of rape and murder in Pendra. After this the police arrested the accused.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Death sentence based on DNA evidence<\/strong><br \/>In Urla police station area, four-year-old Harsh was kidnapped, wrapped in a towel, doused with petrol and burnt alive. In this case, the court has sentenced Panchram, accused of murder, to murder on the basis of DNA evidence. The child&#8217;s body was completely burnt, whose identification was not possible. The child was identified through DNA. The report was submitted to the court. After this, on the basis of DNA report, the court sentenced the accused of murder to death.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Workers killed in blast identified through DNA<\/strong><br \/>More than half a dozen workers were killed in the blast that took place in May this year in the gunpowder factory located in Bemtera, Berla. The workers&#8217; clothes were destroyed in the blast. The workers could not be identified. According to the forensic lab official, DNA test of the collected pieces was done. Samples of more than 50 people were collected to collect DNA.
