Where will firefighters get jobs… Center gave these instructions to state governments

Government’s big decision regarding employment of former firefighters

The Center has directed all state governments to ensure recruitment of former firefighters in private security agencies and training institutes, as they have experience of working in the army. The Home Ministries have sent this instruction to the governments of all the states and union territories, so that the further career of the former firefighters can be ensured after the completion of 4 years of service.

Let us tell you that the government had started the Agneepath scheme in June 2022. Under this scheme, youth between the age of 17 and a half years to 21 years are recruited in the army for four years and they contribute in the service of the country. In this, 25 percent of the youth are kept in the army permanently for 15 years after four years, the service of the remaining 75% youth ends after four years.

Fire warriors should get priority

In the letter issued by the Home Ministry, citing Section 10(3) of PSARA, it was said that while giving employment to private security agencies, priority will have to be given to those who have worked in the Army, Navy or Air Force. The letter further states that Agniveer has approximately four years of experience in service. Therefore, private security agencies can give them preference while recruiting private security guards and supervisors. The ministry asked officials of states and union territories to sensitize and encourage the top 10 security agencies to employ firefighters.

In fact, in June, the Central Government had issued a notification, in which the Home Ministry was given the responsibility to make plans keeping in mind the further career of Agniveer after his tenure ends.

reserved seat in army

The government has reserved 10 percent vacancy for former firemen for recruitment to the post of constable and rifleman in the Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles, which includes CISF and BSF. Apart from this, provision has also been made for relaxation in age limit and relaxation in physical efficiency test.

Many agencies and departments of the Central Government have already announced plans to recruit former firefighters. Apart from this, some states including Haryana and Rajasthan have promised reservation for fire fighters in their police forces.
