Farooq Abdullah will not contest Rajya Sabha elections
Rajya Sabha elections are going to be held on four seats in Jammu and Kashmir on October 24. The last date for filing its nomination is 13 October. Meanwhile, National Conference has announced 3 candidates, while the fourth seat can be left for Congress. After the announcement of these names, it has become clear that Farooq Abdullah will not contest the Rajya Sabha elections.
The last date for filing nomination is October 13, even after this no one has filed nomination till now. After the declaration of NC candidates, now BJP and PDP can also announce their candidates soon. NC has the support of 53 MLAs, which will make it easier for it to win two seats. There is competition from BJP for the other two seats.
Farooq will stay in Jammu not Delhi
National Conference (NC) chief Farooq Abdullah will not contest Rajya Sabha elections. Because elections are to be held on October 24 for four seats of the Upper House from Jammu and Kashmir. The NC on Friday announced candidates for three seats, while talks are on to leave the fourth seat for ally Congress.
NC General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar said that the party high command has finalized the names of Chaudhary Mohammad Ramzan, Shammi Oberoi and Sajjad Kitchlu for Rajya Sabha. He said, “NC has kept one seat vacant and talks are going on with Congress.”
Regarding Farooq Abdullah, party leaders said that he will not be in Parliament this time. We feel that at this time we need him more in Jammu and Kashmir than in Delhi. Apart from this, Farooq has refused to file nomination due to health reasons. Former CM Abdullah was admitted to the hospital last week due to stomach infection.
How is the picture of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly?
In the 90-member Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, NC has 41 MLAs, followed by BJP 28, Congress 6, PDP 3, CPI(M), Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference and Aam Aadmi Party 1 each and 7 independent MLAs. At present two seats are vacant. National Conference can easily win two seats in the Rajya Sabha elections, but there is a contest between National Conference and BJP for the other two seats.
