Madhya Pradesh Higher Education Department has put 10 private universities of the state in the defaulter list. These include universities of Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Sagar and Shivpuri districts. The department says that these institutions did not follow the regulatory standards and academic guidelines.
Universities failed in investigation, deficiencies in staff and infrastructure
Recently the Higher Education Department reviewed the recognition and rules of private universities (MP News). The investigation found shortage of staff in many institutions, standards of labs and libraries were incomplete, and academic systems were found to be weak. Notices were sent to many universities earlier also, but the institutions did not take corrective steps. For this reason, these universities have now been included in the defaulter list. Due to this, questions are being raised on the validity of their admission process and degree.

A student from Bhopal said, “We have paid the fees, the course is going on, but now there is a fear that our degree might get invalidated.”
The institute is trying to take corrective steps
Some universities administrations (MP News) said that they are taking corrective steps in coordination with the department and will try to bring the situation back to normal soon. The state government made it clear that strict action will continue against those institutions which did not follow the rules.
