A case that shocks humanity has come to light from Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh. Here, in the name of superstition, limits of brutality were crossed on a married woman. The woman was said to be possessed by a ghost and was beaten with iron chains, a burning wick was placed on her palms and a hot coin was pasted on her forehead. This game of witchcraft continued for two and a half hours, only when she became unconscious, she was released. This incident took place in Srivach village of Khachrod tehsil, about 70 kilometers from Ujjain.

The age of the victim is 22 years. She is a resident of Juna Somwariya area of ​​Ujjain city. She works in an incense stick factory and was unwell for some time. Meanwhile, some of her relatives called her to her parents’ home, saying that she was possessed by a demon and would be cured by exorcism. Urmila along with her mother Hansa Bai reached Shrivach village on 29 September, the Saptami day of Navratri.

Tantric ritual by taking it into the room

The woman’s relative works as an exorcist in the village. He took Urmila to a room and started the tantric ritual. Many pictures of gods and goddesses were hanging in the room. Urmila told the police that then a woman named Sugabai came into the room wearing a chunari, carrying a crowbar in one hand and a sword in the other. He said that a witch has entered Urmila. Urmila said many times that she had no problem, but no one listened to her.

After this, two men and a woman present in the room started exorcising. He hit Urmila on the head with an iron chain and hit her on the back with an inverted sword. A burning wick was placed on his palms and a hot coin was stuck on his forehead. This cruelty continued from 9:30 pm to midnight. Urmila kept suffering from pain, but no one came forward to help her. Finally, when she fell unconscious, the exorcists released her.

The next morning, the Deputy Sarpanch of the village, seeing his condition, brought him to Ujjain city and admitted him to the hospital. Due to deteriorating health, Urmila could not go to the police immediately. After a few days, when her condition improved a little, she reached the women’s police station with her mother and narrated her entire ordeal.

What did the lady police station in-charge say?

Mahila police station in-charge Leela Solanki said that on the instructions of SP Pradeep Sharma, the victim has been admitted to the government hospital for immediate treatment. There are serious injuries and burn marks on his body. Police have registered a case against a total of eight people in the case under sections 115(2), 118(1) and 3(5) of the Indian Justice Code (BNS).

The names of the accused include Santosh Chaudhary, Kanha Chaudhary, Raju Chaudhary, Ritesh Chaudhary, Kanha Bhil, Manohar and Sugabai. Three of these accused have been arrested, while the search for the rest is ongoing. Police investigation also revealed that Urmila was married six years ago in Gautampura, but when she gave birth to a daughter, her husband left her saying that he wanted a boy. Since then she is living with her mother in Ujjain.
