A special workshop was organized today on Tribal Pride Day at New Circuit House in the capital Raipur. On this occasion, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai said that this year the state government has made a comprehensive plan to celebrate Tribal Pride Day in a grand and historic manner. The Tribal Pride Day program organized in Jashpur last year was very successful, which was appreciated even by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself.
The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Modi had announced to celebrate the birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda on November 15 as Tribal Pride Day, thereby honoring the contribution of the tribal society across the country.
Chief Minister Sai said, “There are many brave and glorious histories of our tribal society, which could not get their proper place in the pages of history. It is the effort of the state government to make the contributions of all such public leaders reach the common people.” He said that the government sets a special budget every year for the upliftment of the tribal society, which is providing direct benefits in the fields of education, health and employment.
Speaking on the life of Lord Birsa Munda, Sai said, “Lord Birsa Munda had defeated the British at the age of just 25. He had united the tribal society and sparked rebellion against the British rule. His life is an inspiration for the youth.”
The Chief Minister said that this year President Draupadi Murmu has been invited to the main program of Tribal Pride Day. He said that “President ji is on a foreign tour till 16th November, hence consideration is being given to extend the date of the program by 1-2 days, so that he himself can participate in this glorious event.”
Senior officials of the Tribal Development Department, public representatives, and representatives of various tribal communities were also present in the workshop. Suggestions were presented in the program to give recognition to tribal culture, art, and traditions at the national level. Chief Minister Sai said that the aim of the Chhattisgarh government is that this year’s event should not be limited to just one day, but should become a celebration of tribal pride and heritage in the entire state.
