Huge explosion in coal mine, 10 injured, condition of 2 critical

10 people were buried under the debris due to the blast in Chirmiri open cast coal mine in MCB district of Chhattisgarh. Of those buried, 4 are contract laborers while 6 are SECL employees. The condition of two of the injured workers remains critical. As soon as information about the accident was received, the rescue team reached the spot. The matter is of Chirmiri police station area. People present at the spot said that the explosion was so strong that the ammunition vehicle and another vehicle present at the spot were completely damaged.

According to the information, this incident happened when gunpowder was being filled in the mine. All the laborers injured in the accident have been admitted to the Regional Hospital of Godripara, where they are undergoing treatment. Two women laborers are also among the injured. As soon as information about the incident was received, Chirmiri Municipal Corporation Mayor Ram Naresh Rai and SECL officials reached the hospital. Local people are also present in large numbers in the hospital premises.

It is being told that while filling gunpowder in the coal mine, there was a sudden explosion in the gunpowder due to which the workers working there got buried under the debris of soil and stones. After the blast, there are reports of damage to many vehicles due to open cast mines.
