Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department has started major action on fake and ineligible ration card holders in the state. The department has conducted a verification campaign of more than 46 lakh suspected ration cards, which has revealed shocking. Many card holders who have died, so many have left the states and have gone out.
In such cases, the names of 53,234 members are so far ready to be canceled with the ration card. These include 9,233 members of Raipur district alone.
1.93 lakh members have been removed in the first phase
Earlier, the department had removed the names of 1 lakh 93 thousand 67 members across the state from the ration card. These included 19,574 members of Raipur district. Physical verification found that most of these members have died or settled in other states.
In fact, the central government had instructed all ration card holders to conduct e-KYC. More than 46 lakh people who did not conduct e-KYC on time were put on the suspicious list. Despite this, food grains were going on every month in the name of many suspected card holders.
Now pruning will be on the basis of income, tax and land
The department is now preparing to take the next step. Families whose annual income is more than Rs 6 lakh, which deposit income tax (income tax), or those who have more than 5 acres of agricultural land, will be started to remove their names with ration cards.
Food Controller Bhupendra Mishra informed that the names of more than 19 thousand members have already been canceled in Raipur district. The process of removing the names of the remaining 9 thousand members is in the final stages. After this, the retrenchment of other ineligible will continue as per rules.

Department’s strictness continues on ineligible
The department says that the government aims to provide cheap ration facilities to real poor and eligible families. In such a situation, the food grains distribution system is being made transparent by canceling the cards of the people whose names are being found in the ineligible category.
