For the convenience of passengers at Raipur railway station, the opposition of the porters is not stopping against the decision to start a battery powered vehicle. Describing this step as a big crisis on its livelihood, a large number of Kuli today mobilized on platform number 1. Railway is performing coolies under the banner of license porters and demanding justice.
Performing porters say that due to modernization and privatization in the railway, there is a huge crisis on their livelihood. In the era of inflation, it has become almost impossible to raise the family with their limited income. Railways had issued several orders to ensure social security of porters, such as free education in railway schools, free medical arrangements for family members, providing four uniforms every year and providing restrooms with modern facilities. All these provisions have not yet been applied at the ground level. In particular, despite the presence of porters in Raipur division and free service of battery -powered vehicles at stations, the contract for carrying goods has been handed over to a private company – at the rate of Rs 50 and Rs 30 per luggage. This is a violation of the livelihood of the porters.
It is worth noting that Railway License Porters Mazdoor Cooperative Society Maryadit, Raipur gave a memorandum to the Divisional Railway Manager on 22 September. In which he was assured that his interests would be taken care of, but after a few hours it was told that the tender could be canceled. He has demanded that arrangements should be made to save the livelihood of the porters by canceling the tender. Otherwise, just as the porters were accommodated in the railway in 2003, it should be re -re -done.

The porters told that he will fight further fights with Chhattisgarh Kranti Sena and Johar Chhattisgarh Party. Memorandum, press conference, picket, peaceful agitation will be done.
